Chicago Bears release 2018 season schedule
April 20, 2018 12:03 AM | Larry Mayer
The Bears will kick off the Matt Nagy era on a national stage with back-to-back prime-time games, beginning with their season opener against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

The Bears will visit Green Bay Sept. 9 on Sunday Night Football (7:20 p.m.)-helping the Packers begin to celebrate their 100th season-before returning to Soldier Field for their home opener against the Seahawks Sept. 17 on Monday Night Football (7:15 p.m.).

The Bears will open a season with two prime-time games for the first time in franchise history.

Thirteen of the Bears' final 14 games will be played on Sunday, with the only exception being a Thanksgiving contest against the Lions in Detroit Nov. 22 (11:30 a.m.).

The Bears' first two games are their only two scheduled for prime time in 2018, though their final 11 Sunday contests could be flexed to Sunday night.

In Week 3, the Bears will visit the Cardinals in Arizona Sept. 23 (3:25 p.m.). Interestingly, Nagy will face the same first three teams as predecessor John Fox did in his first season as Bears coach in 2015 when he opened with losses to the Packers, Cardinals and Seahawks.

The Bears will return home in Week 4 to host the Buccaneers Sept. 30 at Soldier Field in their first noon kickoff of the season. They will then have a bye in Week 5, their earliest bye since 2009 when it also came in Week 5.

The Bears will then play four straight Sunday noon games against AFC East opponents, visiting the Dolphins in Miami Oct. 14, and hosting the Patriots Oct. 21 and Jets Oct. 28 in Chicago before traveling to Buffalo to face the Bills Nov. 4. The Bears swept the AFC North last season, beating the Steelers 23-17 in overtime, Ravens 27-24 in overtime, Bengals 33-7 and Browns 20-3.

The Bears will follow by playing the Lions twice in 12 days, Nov. 11 at Soldier Field (noon) and on Thanksgiving Nov. 22 in Detroit. Sandwiched in between those two contests is a home game against the Vikings Nov. 18 (noon).

The Bears will conclude their schedule with five December games, beginning with a road contest against the New York Giants Dec. 2 (noon), followed by home matchups versus the Rams Dec. 9 (noon) and Packers Dec. 16 (noon).

The Bears will close with back-to-back road games in San Francisco against the 49ers Dec. 23 (noon) and in Minnesota versus the Vikings Dec. 30 (noon). Their season finale will be in Minnesota for the third straight year and fourth time in the last five years.

The Bears on Thursday also finalized their preseason dates and times.

After facing the Ravens in the Hall of Fame Game Thursday, Aug. 2 in Canton (7 p.m.), the Bears will visit the Bengals in Cincinnati Thursday, Aug. 9 (6 p.m.) and the Broncos in Denver Saturday, Aug. 18 (8:05 p.m.). The Bears and Broncos will conduct joint practices Wednesday and Thursday in Colorado in advance of their game.

The Bears will then close their preseason slate by hosting the Chiefs Saturday, Aug. 25 (noon) and the Bills Thursday, Aug. 30 at Soldier Field (7 p.m.).

Tickets to all Bears home games will go on sale at 8 p.m. Thursday.
