It's been said that what is not started today, is never finished tomorrow. Bears first-round draft pick Mitchell Trubisky learned that first hand, waiting his turn to play quarterback at North Carolina.

"There were definitely points throughout college I was thinking maybe my NFL dreams are too far to reach," Trubisky said.

Featured in the first of a four-part "Meet the Rookies" series on ChicagoBears.com, Trubisky explains why he never detoured from his ultimate objective.

"I just kept working for it, put my head down, go to work, just trust and believe in the people around me and believe in myself," he said. "Now I finally get to live out my dream of playing in the NFL."

The Bears launched their "Meet The Rookies" series Monday, featuring Trubisky. Subsequent parts will highlight defensive lineman Rashaad Coward, running back Tarik Cohen and tight end Adam Shaheen. The series, brought to you by the Chicago Tribune, tells the story of each player's journey to the National Football League in their own words. This marks the third year of the Bears "Meet the Rookies" series.

This Monday through Thursday, one episode per day will be released on ChicagoBears.com, the Bears official app and Bears social media channels starting at 9am. The series will culminate with a 30-minute special featuring all four episodes on WFLD FOX 32 on Friday, June 23, at 9:30pm.

The series provides an inside look at Trubisky's personal determination from his family, and coaches and get a glimpse from his perspective on what quarterback leadership is all about.

"When things don't go right and you hit adversity you got to be that guy who doesn't even flinch," said the rookie quarterback. "It's just being able to be clutch. When your team needs a big time play, you need to be that guy that needs to deliver."

Trubisky said he can't wait to be that guy, to be the ultimate teammate, a nasty competitor, a guy who will try to win at all costs.
