Documentary on ’85 Bears slated for Jan. 29

For one special night, Bears fans can relive the excitement generated by the famed 1985 Super Bowl XX championship team that electrified the nation.

A documentary entitled "85: The Greatest Team in Football History" will be shown for one night only on Monday, Jan. 29 at more than 200 movie theaters nationwide.

The documentary chronicles the journey of the '85 Bears, which featured five Hall of Famers in coach Mike Ditka, running back Walter Payton, defensive tackle Dan Hampton, defensive end Richard Dent and middle linebacker Mike Singletary.

It features interviews with '85 Bears Hampton, Singletary, Jim McMahon, Steve McMichael, Willie Gault and Otis Wilson; football legends such as Dan Marino and Phil Simms, and famous Chicagoans including President Barack Obama, actor Bill Murray, newscaster Bill Kurtis, sportscaster Michael Wilbon and Reverend Jesse Jackson.

Scott Prestin directed the film and produced it alongside Rich Lenkov, Tom Pellegrini and Wilson.

The documentary showing will feature an exclusive introduction and panel interview with members of the 1985 Bears taped at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which will include Hampton, McMahon, Wilson and moderator Matt Walsh (HBO's Veep), who serves as the film's narrator.

The championship Bears team featured a colorful cast of characters led by Payton, McMahon, William 'The Refrigerator' Perry and coach Ditka, and "85" chronicles their journey to victory and pop culture fame.
